This training enables the participants to understand and build skills, that will create and foster relationships with Indigenous peoples that is positive, collaborative, healing and prosperous.
This training is build to be held over 4 days and is structured around the medicine wheel.
Each training session will be 2.5 hours in length, with activities, for a total of 10.5 hours
This training is delivered in full, and is not able to be broken out into separate training.
Cultural Awareness-The East to begin to understand how to gain knowledge that will help and enhance relationships with Indigenous peoples. To understand intergeneration history of 7 generation, culture and language
Cultural Sensitivity-The South to be introduced to issues of today, those that have impacts on Indigenous people and the communities in which they live. To be introduced to the urban, remote and reserve communities, the current realities, organization and resource supports, and those lacking.
Cultural Safety- The West to learn about the various treaties, the ways of being, knowing and doing of Indigenous peoples. To understand self-governance and sovereignty. To understand the 2 Row Wampum, The Dish And One Spoon, Traditional Indigenous Knowledge, Traditional Ecological Knowledge.
Cultural Competency -The North to delve into understanding how to create a framework that engages all employees cultural competency. To engage in a vision that supports a balanced, aware work place, play, social. Create culturally safe environment, inclusive, culturally sensitive, culturally secure.
